PPE

Personal Protective Equipment or more commonly referred to as PPE protects users against hazards in the workplace. When a hazard cannot be 100% removed, measures must be put in place to reduce the chance of injury. Employers have a duty of care to provide workers with PPE in good condition, working and appropriate to the task. However, employees have a duty to wear the PPE, use it correctly, and report any damage or if the item is faulty.

PPE helps lower the risk of injury – Eye protection, safety helmets, gloves, high-visibility clothing, appropriate work clothing and appropriate footwear are all types of PPE. Hazards exist in every workplace, and it is a priority to eliminate and control the hazard before it reaches the worker. Most hazards can be controlled or reduced, significantly limiting the risk to a person’s health. In situations where risk is still present, the use of PPE is required. Although PPE cannot eliminate a hazard, it can further reduce the risk of injury.

The course will communicate the essential information needed for workers to understand the importance of PPE within the workplace. The following are some of the areas covered in the online course.

• Assessing suitable PPE.
• The hazards and types of PPE.
• Training.
• Maintenance.
• CE marking.

At the end of the essential e-learning Personal Protective Equipment Awareness Course, candidates will complete a multiple-choice test. Successful candidates will then be awarded an e certificate which can be used as evidence of continued professional development, used when looking to gain employment or further careers, used to update CPD and will overall demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of PPE in the workplace.

This bite-sized course is delivered online and can be completed using a PC, MAC, or tablet. The course is available 24/7, and you can receive your certificate anytime, anywhere.

Once the enrolment process has been completed, candidates will be emailed access to the online course material within 24 hours. 

This course will provide candidates with a fundamental understanding and knowledge of personnel protective equipment within the workplace.

By the end of the e-learning course, candidates will have learned about:

• Understand the Law regarding the use of PPE.
• Ensure they understand the importance of using the correct PPE.
• Recognise common safety hazards where PPE is required.
• Have understood the principles of maintaining PPE in good condition.

This online awareness course is designed for workers with little or no knowledge of personal protective equipment, so it is ideal for induction and refresher training.
